ICICI Bank Canada to receive award from the Canadian Helen Keller Centre
The Honourable Jim Flaherty presents award to ICICI Bank Canada at Fairmont Royal York
Toronto, April 9, 2009 - ICICI Bank Canada will be honoured for their long-standing support and sponsorship of the Canadian Helen Keller Centre (CHKC) at a luncheon at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel today. The award will be presented by The Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance for the Government of Canada.
"ICICI Bank Canada is delighted to be associated with the Canadian Helen Keller Centre and receive this award today,” said Sriram H. Iyer, President and CEO of ICICI Bank Canada. “It makes us particularly proud to have our bank commended for its charitable work as we have always been committed to supporting Canadian communities. I have had the honour of visiting the Centre and I have seen, firsthand, the training it provides to people with sight and hearing challenges. It is truly remarkable what these individuals are able to accomplish with the help of the Centre.”
CHKC is the only residential training centre in Canada for people who have become Deaf-Blind. Their services help people develop alternate ways to care for themselves, their families and their homes. In addition, they facilitate connections to peers and the community through the development of alternative forms of communication, computing and through self-advocacy and peer support.
“We are delighted to recognize ICICI Bank Canada for their outstanding contribution in support of people who are Deaf-Blind,” said Vim Kochhar, Founding Chair of CHKC. “The assistance of sponsors like ICICI Bank Canada allows us to provide skills for daily living and advocate on behalf of the Deaf-Blind community.”
