ICICI Bank Canada President and CEO Sriram Iyer named to Canada's Top 40 Under 40TM
Toronto, Ontario, May 5, 2009 – ICICI Bank Canada announced today that Sriram Iyer, President and Chief Executive Officer, has been named a recipient of Canada's Top 40 Under 40TM for 2008. Mr. Iyer received the award at a ceremony in Toronto today.
“Sriram has really evolved as an executive, showing tremendous leadership qualities and the ability to nurture a team. This award is an acknowledgement of Sriram’s outstanding vision and guidance, which are crucial factors in making ICICI Bank Canada the success it is today” said Ms. Chanda Kochhar, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ICICI Bank Limited, parent bank of ICICI Bank Canada. “This is recognition for the entire team in Canada and my congratulations to the team as well.”
Receiving this national recognition was due in large part to Mr. Iyer's strategic planning and vision, which have been integral in the growth and evolution of ICICI Bank Canada. During his 13 years with ICICI Bank, Mr. Iyer's has held several senior positions in Canada and with the parent bank in India. While in Canada, he has helped transform ICICI Bank from a niche bank that serviced the Indo-Canadian community to a hybrid branch/direct banking operation with customers in every province. Mr. Iyer has overseen tremendous growth of ICICI Bank Canada over the five-year period since its inception.
“I am extremely honoured and humbled to be recognized with this prestigious award.” Mr. Iyer said, “This personal accomplishment is a reflection of the exceptional management and employee team we have at ICICI Bank, and I know that I would not be in this position today without their tireless dedication to our bank’s success.”
In addition to his efforts leading the Bank’s strategic direction, Mr. Iyer has made important contributions to local and international not-for-profit organizations. Always thinking about his roots in India, he has made it a personal mandate to help raise awareness of poverty issues in the developing world. At the same time, he is actively involved in local charities, including the Canadian Helen Keller Centre, which recently recognized ICICI Bank Canada with an award for its ongoing support.
Canada’s Top 40 Under 40TM is a prestigious national award program, which annually honours 40 Canadians in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors under the age of 40.
Mr. Iyer was selected from over 1,100 nominees by an independent Advisory Board, comprised of 25 business leaders from across Canada. Honourees were chosen on five key criteria: vision and leadership; innovation and achievement; impact; community involvement and contribution; and strategy for growth.
